Hudson William Edison Ntsanwisi (11 July 1920 - 23 March 1993〔http://www.sahistory.org.za/people/hudson-william-edison-ntsanwisi〕) was the first Chief Minister of Gazankulu, a former bantustan in apartheid-era South Africa. == Biography == Ntsanwisi was born on 11 July 1920 in Shiluvane, 85 km southeast of Pietersburg (now Polokwane) in the Transvaal Province of South Africa. He attended the University of South Africa, where he obtained a Master's degree in African studies in 1965. He then went on to attend Georgetown University in the United States, where he studied linguistics. After returning to South Africa, he worked as a teacher, and later as a school inspector in the northern Transvaal Province. He became the first Chief Minister of Machangana (which was later renamed Gazankulu) in 1969. He served as Chief Minister until his death in 1993. Ntsanwisi was a supporter of South African President F.W. de Klerk, and his reforms which ultimately led to the end of apartheid in 1994.〔http://www.nytimes.com/1993/03/26/obituaries/hudson-ntsanwisi-leader-of-gazankulu-72.html〕
